Sonic Tube Procurement for Section 4-3 (Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima) of China-Thailand High-Speed Rail
On June 13, 2022, the bid-winning result for the pile foundation sonic tubes (seamless tubes) of Section 4-3 (Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima) of the China-Thailand High-Speed Rail was announced. The procurement of sonic tubes for this project provided essential material support for the subsequent pile foundation testing work, ensuring the smooth progress of the project in the pile foundation construction quality inspection phase.
Pile Foundation Hole-Formation Testing for Section 4-3 of China-Thailand High-Speed Rail
The Section 4-3 of the China-Thailand High-Speed Rail project has a total of 1,960 pile foundations, and this section became the first section across the entire line to realize self-inspection of pile foundation hole-formation testing. In the pile foundation testing process, sonic tubes—acting as the key component of the acoustic transmission testing method—are pre-embedded in the pile body to detect the integrity of the pile concrete.
Through the efforts of the project team, excluding the procurement cost of the pile foundation hole-formation tester, the pile foundation hole-formation testing cost was reduced by nearly 9 million Thai Baht (approximately 1.8 million RMB). This not only effectively lowered the project construction cost but also demonstrated the important role of sonic tubes in ensuring project quality and controlling costs.
